Getting out of shape? Want to get back in your sexy jeans? start by walking!

Out of shape? Want to get back in to your sexy jeans? What are you waiting for, start working out and with the right diet. It is simple as ABC, but sometimes our “EXCUSES” let us to procrastinate away from our goal of losing that extra pounds or even to start a healthy lifestyle. What can we do about it?

It depends on our belief system about it. Let me promise you this, based on my learning and results of the past, I know for sure that the ACTION you put in for your goal works. Furthermore, consistent action is a definite to achieve success in the area of your goal. According to Pablo Picasso, the famous artist, “Action is the foundational key to all successes” . But wait a moment, why not consume the hunger of losing weight and getting fit by also gaining other benefits through nurturing our society?

Like gaining :

Community contribution and connectedness –  Giving back to the community and building a sense of local community.

Positive altruistic effects and intrinsic reward – A personal sense of worth and satisfaction from doing good for others and the community.

Social benefits – Developing networks and meeting new people from diverse backgrounds is a personal benefit of volunteering.

Skills and employment – Gaining new skills and experience for employment is a good reason to volunteer.

July the 24 was a beautiful morning with wonderful breakfast and a focused mind to acccomplish the 3.9km walk. 3.9km walk? It may be nothing for many but it was a challenge for me then. Yes! the negative incident, leading to my injury I had, contributed to a few limitations to my mobility. Nevertheless I wanted to go ahead to show support and love of helping those in need and to prove myself (I even packed and folded one of my crutch in my haversack). The day went great, with goodie bags being distributed, and participants getting ready for the warm up, “JUMBA”. It was a fun and enjoyable workout, before the walk/race began. It definetly was a little nerve-wrecking for the first time walking 3.9km after my “negative incident”, but I still when forward to it.

  JUMBA style warm-up before beginning

“Wanna give up?” Nah! push on. I BELIEVE I CAN & I WILL;)

It was a long walk for me, which was tiring and getting a little bored (but luckily i had a bluetooth headset to listen to motivating music). At one point I wanted to give up and use my crutch to support me instead, with much persuasion in me I TOLD MYSELF ” you will be reaching the finishing line soon, believe you can do it and you are almost there”. And that quote was in my head all the way to the finishing line. I did it! It was a happy moment, a sense of accomplishment and a relief of sigh that i did it overwhelmed me. Most importantly, knowing that I have proved myself, gave me the confidence to achieve more. Also there were a few lucky draws, and time for my departure, leaving the venue with a big smile on my face.
