10 beneficial habits of successful people

I am very sure each of us has big dreams deep within, that we are eagerly waiting to unleash for a difference in the world or our own life. This article reflects how many of us actually bury our desires of dreams because of our belief system of fear for many reasons or I can say “excuses”.

They may be fear of change, fear of loss, fear of rejection and etc… But do you know something? Successful people, unlike ordinary people doing ordinary things, are willing to do extraordinary things that ordinary people find difficult or uncomfortable to do.

Let me list you 10 habits successful people do in their journey of success:

1. Striving for consistency.
Successful people are focused on meeting their objectives and this is why they have a consistent schedule. I am sure all of us know Dwayne Johnson, the American actor, singer, producer, and wrestler where he was nicknamed the “Rock”. He said, ” success isn’t about greatness, it is about consistency. Consistent hard work gains success and greatness will come”.

2. Setting daily goals.
John C. Maxwell, American author, speaker, and pastor, said successful people do not make a daily decision to grow, the decision has already been made and just need to be fed. To feed success you must know your purpose in life, grow daily to reach your maximum potential and sow seeds that benefit others, and remember success is not a destination it is a daily process.

3. They nurture the right relationships.
There are three motivational principles that guide the social construction of reality, and the process of social influence the motivation to connectedness. As people also care about connections the right relationship is important. Successful people look for support and find people they can connect with intellectually. Find your crowd and collaborate, play off each other’s strengths, and watch everyone grow. Jim Rohn (motivational speaker) says, “you are the average of your five closest friends”. Who are yours?

4. They display high emotional intelligence.
High emotional intelligence is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships sensibly and empathetically is one of the qualities for successful people. They use their emotional awareness to think progressively and find answers to problems. This quality helps them to inspire others to be successful, too.

According to Steve Bill Gates, emotional intelligence is an elusive concept. “There is a certain sharpness, an ability to absorb new facts. To walk into a situation, have something explained to you and immediately say “Well, what about this?”. To ask an insightful question, to absorb it in real-time, increasing your capacity to remember and relate to domains that may not be seen as connected at first. A certain creativity that allows people to be effective.

5. They take action.
Successful people take action on things they decide instead of procrastinating on them. Nothing is solved when you let the feeling of overwhelm set you back. Through actions, you can attain results and discover a path toward your goals. But if they fail on their journey of taking action, they won’t sit or regret too long but instead take action in a new direction. “Action is the most important key to any success” – Tony Robbins (American businessman, author & philanthropist). Further on in the blog, I will illustrate the importance of taking action.

6. They practice positive self-talk.
When you use phrases like, “Today is going to be a great day” or “I am successful”, you boost your intellectual ability and improve your chances of attaining your goals for the day. It is great as it improves your health and manages your stress level. Alexander Gustafsson a Swedish mixed martial artist quoted that “Positive thinking is a habit; like everything else you get better at it with time”.

7. They stay healthy.
President Barack Obama exercises 45 minutes per day, six days a week. A healthy mind and body are one of the steps to success. Your body is a vehicle for everything you achieve. Such physical activity doesn’t only keep the body physically healthy; it also improves one’s mental state. According to a few Neuroscience experts,  exercise targets many aspects of brain function and health like learning and memory, protection from neurodegeneration, and alleviation of depression, particularly in elderly populations.

8. They meditate.
Meditation can improve your brain functions and help you get in touch with yourself (your insight). Meditation also allows you to focus and be more productive in your performance. Oprah Winfrey speaks about the great benefits of meditation and how the results have included better relationships and being more creativite. There are a lot of benefits of meditation and I personally have a lot of advantages about it to talk about. Stay tuned as I will write more about it in my next blog.

9. They take one step at a time.
They act on small improvements toward their major goals. According to Henry Ford(American Industrialist), “Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small pieces.” Successful people know that success is the sum of small efforts repeated day in & out, as big dreams happen one step at a time. As the saying goes you can’t eat an elephant as a whole, but you can do it one bite at a time;)

10. They wake up early on a positive note.
Sometimes if you want something as bad as not breathing, you will do “anything” for it even if it is waking up early. Some people dream of success (the talker), while others wake up to work at it (walker). But the best part is you need to wake up on a positive note to reach your goal to success easier and faster. Marcel Archard, a retro time popular French playwright and screenwriter, said “people think that success comes to those who wake up early, but in reality, success comes to those who wake up in a good mood”.

B2S activities:

These are some habits successful people follow, but there is definitely more to it as different people are different in their own ways.

All of this is true, but I especially like number 4, displaying a high level of emotional intelligence. It is how successful people create value and contribute to their environment by taking action (No. 5) This was what I, together with another B2S individual did on January 10, 2017, the day of my birthday.

We went to SPD’s Children center named Building Bridges EIPIC to create some fun for the children facing autism and global developmental delay. Firstly we discussed with the center in charge of the do’s and don’ts, also the activities we are providing and the duration. After preparing our self, we went in to one of the class to surprise and create a “heaven” lots of fun for the kids. We went to have some interaction with the children and the distribution of some party goodie bags.

After that, it was time for “Koko” to enter the scene(that was me in the disguised version of a “superhero”). I quickly went out to disguise myself with a cape, fake mustache, fake eyebrow and a party hat. Koko entered the room and entertained the children with firstly the party goodie bags, and instructed the kids to blow the balloons which were in the party bag, followed by some games. Firstly they were introduced to ‘balloon train’, where they are supposed to choose a partner each and place a blown balloon in between them. The separated groups have to do that all the way to the finish line to emerge victoriously.

They were disorganized at first but slowly they were set to go. After that, we had two more games but had to drop 1 because of the shortage of time and their restlessness. Koko ended the day with gifts for the games and a short motivational story.
